Panic Disorder is characterized by recurrent sudden, and
unexpected panic attacks. Often patients will fear the occurrence of another Panic attack
for at least a month.
Panic attacks are characterized by a discrete period of intense
fear or discomfort with at least four of the following symptoms:
Racing heart
Sweating
Shaking
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Choking sensation
Nausea
Dizziness
Tingling
Numbness
Chills
Hot flashes
Fear of losing control or going crazy
Fear of dying
Some patients have occasional attacks, with years in-between episodes. Others may have
very frequent, severe symptoms.
